Area with X-axis

Application of Integral Calculus

In regions where the graph of y=f(x) is above the x-axis (i.e., f(x)>0), a definite integral calculates the area between the graph and the x-axis. In regions where the graph is below the x-axis (i.e., f(x)<0), the integral calculates the negative of the area between the graph and the x-axis.
